superbad...

recently i made the mistake of watching the movie, "superbad" due to a friend of mine that said and i qoute, "it was funny..." (thanks travis...)

although they were some funny parts, i fear that i have perpetuated the direction that movies are going... lame.
as i was watching superbad i was wondering, "is this the best they can do?"

is just me or have the quality of movies that are being made today gone down hill? who is to blame for this? the producers? the audiences? movies gross into the hundred millions, actors and actresses get paid millions, but for what? a movie thats only worth a couple of laughs?

i want a movie that will challenge me, inspire me, and encourage me. or movies that are really freakin funny!

share your thoughts, comments, or any movies that have moved you.

if you are curious about some good movies, here are some:
- anything directed by gus van sant (finding forrester, good will hunting, gerry)
- 21 grams
- babel
- the 25th hour
- dallas 362
- love liza

- sam

Agreed. Dirty and at times funny, but by no means "hilarious". Frankly Sam, our generation is retarded when it comes to humor. Look at all the nancies who continually quote Anchorman. Random Dude: "Baxter, you ate a whole wheel of cheese. Im not even mad. That's amazing." Greg: "Well, I'm mad that you just quoted that POS movie and it's not amazing and you're not funny." OWNAGE!

Other movies that suck balls: Dodgeball
Tommy Boy (Yeah- I SAID IT!)(Maybe I lost the joy on this one the 50th effing time some group wanted to watch this when I was in high school)
Most Adam Sandler movies (see above)

I got so frustrated thinking about other movies that blow that I lost my train of thought. Oh yeah, and I realize that most consider "Tommy Boy" and "Happy Gilmore" to be "the greatest movies ever" and if anybody wants to fight me over my comments..here's my cell. Name a time and place.

Regards,
Greg

the problem is that people continue renting, buying, or going to the over priced movie theatres to see these movies. how can we encourage people to be smarter? how can you tell someone they are stupid and they shouldn't see stupide movies because it will only make them more stupid?

greg, i feel we are at the bottom of a mountain on this subject... i am willing if you are though.
