4th of july...

with the proud day of our nations independence approaching i would like to make a proposition:

skip the fireworks this year.

yeah, thats right. skip spending money on things that will just blow up. you don't flush money down the toilet do you? so why spend money on fireworks that are dangerous and don't last?

don't get me wrong, i'm an american. i'm patriotic. i love this country and feel very fortunate to live here, thats why i'm making this proposition.

take the money you would spend on fireworks and buy extra food so you can invite your neighbors over, or donate the food to a food bank. put it into your kids college fund. put it in your gas fund.

or donate it to an organization.

the 4th of july used to be my favorite holiday. i used to save up my money and spend over $100 on fireworks. dixie whistlers, bricks of black cats, roman candles, and the best were the mortars!! but in the recent years i have learned more about other needs around the world as well as the ones right in our own country; especially with the recent flooding in the midwest.

enjoy the proposition.

When you're right, you're right!

Good suggestions all around. I also used to spend $100 bucks a year on this stuff but there really is no need. There are plenty of places to watch free fireworks and $100 would go a long ways supplying a bbq!

So here I go...I won't spend a dime on fireworks.

Thanks Sam!

Nor will I spend a dime on fireworks!

Anyways, I won't even be in the country, how anti-american is that!?! :)

But if I were here for the 4th, I still wouldn't waste any money on fireworks.
